A newborn who has four arms and four legs has caused chaos in a sleepy town in India as locals flock to see the reincarnation of the “Hindu God”.
Reports say that the boy is a conjoined twin with separate hips and legs, a fused chest and a single head, that increases numbers of Hindu worshippers and is believed to be a reincarnation of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is one of the most iconic and widely-worshipped deities in the Hindu religion and is represented as an elephant with four arms.
Hindus worship Ganesha as the ‘remover of obstacles’ and pray to him at the outset of any new venture.
When a friend first sent me a picture I wrote it off as Photoshopped but when he confirmed that it is real I came to see the baby straight away”, Kuntalesh Pandey told a journalist.
When he first came out we couldn’t believe it. The nurses said he was badly deformed but I could see that this was a sign from God. In fact, this is a miracle, it’s God’s baby,” a relative said.
But he is not the first baby to be born with multiple limbs.
Last month a baby girl born with a deformed nose which resembled a trunk was also hailed as a reincarnation of Lord Ganesha. Her home in Uttar Pradesh has also attracted many devotees.
