Four months before Juliana was born, doctors have discovered some irregularities on Juliana while she was still inside her mother’s womb, however, they couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.
And nothing could have prepared the doctors or the parents for the sight that Juliana presents after her birth, as the newborn girl’s face hardly resembles a normal one.

It was after a complicated pregnancy, Juliana’s parents, Tom and Tami Wetmore, discovered they gave birth to a girl who was missing 40 percent of the bones in her face.
Although her face has many deformations and missing bones, her body is completely normal and healthy. The night she was born, doctors believed that she won’t survive due to her facial deformities that causes her to breathe with difficulty.
But the good thing was that, Juliana was a fighter.

Treacher Collins Syndrome is a genetic mutation that prevents the proper formation of the skull, cheek and jaw bones. Juliana’s case was so severe she required immediate plastic surgery to uncover her left eye and to open up an airway for her to breathe.

As Julia has no ears she needed to be fitted with a bone conduction hearing aid. Also, her malformed mouth prevents her from eating, so she has to be fed through a pipe into her stomach.
But after Juliana underwent 45 operations, She has mastered sign language and attends a school for deaf children. Juliana was an intelligent child, she excels at school.

But before things can get that far, in an orphanage, far from where Juliana and her family lives, resides a girl named Danica. Danica suffers from the same disorder but has a milder case, yet her life isn’t any easier as Julia’s, as she has different hurdles to overcome. Danica has no family to support her, to love her, or to protect her. She was given up for adoption after her birth and has living in an orphanage in Ukraine since ever since. The girl never receives visitors.
