A woman saw black ‘moles’ growing on her hand which seemed like nothing at first until it got worse.
At first, they thought that the growths were blood blisters. The spots started out small, but kept growing.
We couldn’t believe how quickly they’d grow and how quickly one would start. We would look at her hand in the evening and in the morning we would find another one that’s starting to grow,” the Redditor said.
We went to a few different doctors. At one point, we saw a dermatologist who looked really freaked out and had to excuse himself from the room. We later found out he called another doctor whom we were referred to and was concerned it was end-stage melanoma,” her husband recalled.
No one really had a clear cut answer. She was in a lot of pain. It made it challenging to sleep and shower. I think the fear of not knowing what they were was worse than the pain. She eventually went to a plastic surgeon who removed them surgically,” he added.
According to gullibletrout, though the results are inconclusive, doctors believe it to be pyogenic granuloma. They can be caused by irritation, physical trauma, or hormonal imbalances. In his wife’s case, it was likely caused by a switch in birth control pills.
The whole ordeal happened in a span of one month and thank God the spots have not reappeared!
Although, they turned out to be nothing, can you imagine how scared and freaked out she must have been when these things started taking over her hand? The good news is that they’re harmless, but they’re undeniably gross!
