Is it possible to make fireworks underwater?
Oh yes it is! With this little polytechnic experimentation, you sure can witness the underwater fireworks in no time!
It all looks surprisingly simple: just take a sparkler, wrap it in duct tape, set it on fire and drop it in a bowl of water. Contrary to your expectations, it will continue burning!
Plus witness some very cool bubbles and tiny underwater explosions that’ll definitely catch your neighbors’ attention!
This is because sparklers contain Oxidizer (usually Potassium nitrate or Potassium perchlorate) as a oxygen source instead of getting oxygen from the air. As a result, they are able to burn even when they are placed in an environment where oxygen is absent.
Pretty amazing, right?
However, I must insist that those who want to give it a try be extremely cautious, and make sure you won’t do anything reckless that might put you and your neighborhood in danger.
