25-year-old Jia Binhui, from Yunlong County, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, was diagnosed with blood cancer two years ago and was told that his best hope to get better was to undergo a bone-marrow transplant.

Even if money was tight, Jia somehow managed to get enough cash to pay for the UNSUCCESSFUL procedure, which cost him $80,000 (€75,600). But, coming from a family of poor farmers, he was unable to afford further hospital treatments. That’s when he heard about the concept

However, that hasn’t stopped this tough, young man from trying to get better. The young man had no choice but abandon the idea that doctors could treat him and return home. In a desperate attempt to rid himself of the cancerous cells plaguing his body, he devised an alternate treatment that involves roasting himself in his backyard right after he heard about the concept of using heat to fight cancer.

In other words, the man even built a barbecue for himself.

They say experts believe a temperature higher than 42 degrees Celsius [about 108 degrees Fahrenheit] can kill cancer cells, so I set up a contraption in my backyard to try,” he said in an interview.

He burns the wood for several minutes until only hot coals remain, and then roasts himself for as long as he can tolerate the heat.

I’ve been told that it also works with water. But it’s nearly impossible to keep water constantly at 42 degrees, so I’m using this method instead,” he added.

The leukemia sufferer has been roasting himself for as long as he can handle the heat for several weeks now. Since he hasn’t yet had the chance to see a doctor, he has no idea whether his odd treatment method has produced any results. He said that he intends to continue the unorthodox treatment for a while, before testing to see if his condition has improved. Jia is convinced that he’s doing the right thing and hopes that, when he finally goes to see a doctor, he’ll receive some good news for a change.
