When parents drop their children off at daycare centers, they expect and paid for their children’s safety. The safety of children is of the utmost importance, which is why obtaining a state child care license is such an involved process. There are rules and regulations dealing with everything from how many children you can look after to what kind of environment you place them in.
There are several Daycare Centers in USA which are legally accredited and with whom parents put their trust. However, things aren’t certain if there would be a guaranteed safety if you place your child at Kids Stop-N-Play Daycare.
At Kids Stop-N-Play Daycare in Pasco County, Florida, camera footage revealed a shocking incident that took place in the play room. A daycare worker has been accused of intentionally kicking a toddler while the child was napping.
The girl’s mother told police she dropped her daughter off around 6 a.m. free of injuries, and when she picked her up around 12:45 p.m. she had an abrasion under her eye and on the side of her face.
The accused child care worker lost her job and faces child abuse charges after the “horrific” video camera footage.
The video taken at Kids Stop-N-Play Daycare, 5339 Mile Stretch Road, shows the child sleeping on the floor while other children played nearby. The video shows Linda Klemm, 49, kick the top of the child’s head and drag the bottom of her foot across the left side of the child’s face, making her cry.
The girl fell back asleep, but 10 minutes later, Klemm kicked the girl in the buttocks and yanked her to a sitting position, the video showed.
Although, the girl did not suffer serious injuries, Sheriff Chris Nocco characterized the crime as “horrific” Tuesday, adding that the video astonished hardened investigators.
This was just the third day that the family brought their child to the day care. The father dropped (her) off at 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and the mother picker (her) up at 12:30 p.m,” said Sheriff Nocco
The girl’s mother, Crystal Ann Faggione, 24, noticed abrasions under her right eye and on the left side of her face when she picked her up, the sheriff’s office said. She took her child to a local hospital after calling the day care center, the sheriff’s office said.
Klemm, who lives in Tarpon Springs and has worked at the center for four years, was fired. When questioned by authorities, Klemm denied kicking the child on the head and had no explanation for kicking her in the buttocks.
Owner Rhonda Swetland has run the day care for 22 years. She said,
I’m appalled and devastated. They’re fingerprinted, they’re background-checked. I’ve done everything I can possibly do, and the cameras say it all.”
Reports say that parents with children at the day care said they are shocked by the allegations.
I hope that lady gets the maximum. You can’t abuse a child, you can’t kick a child,” said Mark Paxton, whose three children attend the day care. “
